Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). When she moved to Oxfordshire around the age of five, Emma attended The Dragon School. Emma chose to become an actor at age six. For several years she was in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. In the school, she was taught singing along with dancing, as well as acting. Emma's debut film on the screen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone that was released in the year 2001. It broke all records in first-day openings and weekday openings and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. The film was praised by critics and the performances of the three acclaimed young actors. The Daily Telegraph, a widely read British publication, has praised Emma for her performance. Emma was awarded the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in the Feature Film. Emma was nominated five times for her work in the film.
